About River Rock Ranch Alpacas & Apiaries

At River Rock Ranch we are proud to say that we operate a family run farm. We are totally involved in all aspects of both the alpaca and apiary ventures.
Alpacas
We started with a few fibre alpacas in 2001 and soon found that we were all spellbound by these magnificent animals. Our herd has grown quickly and hovers around 50 at this time. Our goal is to continue improving the quality of our colored huacaya here. We have a wide variety of genetics in our herd and continue to add to this with outside breedings and the purchase of top quality alpacas. This is an ever changing industry and we continue to expand our knowledge by attending shows, seminars and workshops. We are active members of the Canadian Llama and Alpaca Association (CLAA), Alpaca Canada (AC), Alpaca Livestock Producers and Co-Operators Association (A.L.P.A.C.A.) and Alpaca Registry International (ARI).
We have always appreciated the help that we have received from fellow breeders and strive to do the same for others. Questions are encouraged and we love to share what we have learned.
Lisa is a fibre craft/art enthusiast and loves to do custom orders and creations as well as providing quality Canadian made alpaca products. To further expand on her knowledge, she recently completed the Camelid Fibre Sorter/Grader program offered at Olds College and is in the process of finishing her apprenticeship.
Apiary - "The Bees"
Jason achieved one of his goals when we purchased an apiary in 2005. At that time we had approximately 600 hives. In 2007 we purchased a commercial apiary in our area so now things are really "buzzing". We are members of the Alberta Beekeepers Association as well as the Alberta Honey Producers Co-operative (Beemaid Honey).
We offer a range of products including unpasteurized honey, flavour infused honey, beeswax candles, honey soaps, and a variety of all natural cosmetics.
By combining our two very different ventures, we are very pleased to be able to offer a unique variety of all natural products.
